M1941 60" Sperry Searchlight Is up and running
After 15 years in a field, the museum's Sperry Searchlight is back in operating condition

For the first time in about 15 years, the General Electric Generator for the searchlight was fired up on June 22nd. She ran for about 20 minutes till we shut her down. We found that the fuel pump was defective and needs to be replaced. The work will continue in hopes to have her ready for July 6th For Mac Days.

This is an exciting project for the Fort MacArthur Museum because this is the same type of searchlight used by Battery K of the 3rd Coast Artillery while it was stationed at the fort during the second world war.

Visit the Restoration Projects page for more information about this exciting project.
